“The Redmond, Wash., company is developing its own model-driven architecture for a future release of its Visual Studio .Net development environment. The new architecture will be based on the UML (Unified Modeling Language) standard, sources said.”
This is great! Microsoft has announced that they’re going to improve upon UML! How wonderful! Because, the best thing that could happen to that standard is for someone to embrace and extend it! How altruistic of Microsoft to step up and sacrificially offer to “improve” upon an established spec! They’re so thoughtful!
There’s nothing sinister going on here, by George!
Actually, I think what they're talking about is more along the lines of an enterprise platform that automates UML activity diagrams, a la Vitria.
It will be interesting to see if they can resist the urge to 'user-friendly' up UML, though.
