Craigslist

Tacos to trannies: Craigslist has it all: A quick overview of the legend that is Craigslist.

“Craig Newmark founded Craigslist in 1995, at the urging of friends who enjoyed receiving his e-mail roundup of local events. The bare bones site was meant as an ‘online community where folks help each other out with everyday stuff.’ He now runs it with 12 other employees and a chief executive, Jim Buckmaster.”

Perfect example of starting something to fill a need, not over-reaching, and just growing to meet demand. The site utterly devoid of any design — Times New Roman, 12 pt. But it works because it provides great content. What does this say about the state of Web design?

The movie to be based on Cragislist was mentioned in the CNN piece, and Wired has another article about it this morning.

I think Craig needs a few more people in his office. Have you tried posting a job on there recently? Or tried posting ANYTHING on there recently? Well, best of luck because Craigslist sucks now.
