Commodore 64 still loved after all these years: CNN has a front page story about the Commodore 64 today.
Like a first love or a first car, a first computer can hold a special place in people’s hearts. For millions of kids who grew up in the 1980s, that first computer was the Commodore 64. Twenty-five years later, that first brush with computer addiction is as strong as ever.
I actually still have one of these in a box somewhere in my basement. Wonder if it still works.
What can be more wonderful than the C-64? The VIC-20. I believe you can still find the article on www.hackaday.com, The radio shack (lower case… on purpose) Hummer video game box (those boxes that plug straight into the RCA a/v connectors) can be modified to access the computer engine; guess what that engine is? The core of the VIC-20. The boot screen even looks like the VIC-20 screen, in B&W.
I still have my VIC-20…going on 28 years or so. Let me know if you folks found it… hit me up on www.mySpace.com/texasmartiniman, just reference the VIC-20, too many strange folks on mySpace :O

Those of us kids who couldn't afford the Apple II+ or C64 got by with the Timex 1000. I still have mine and it still works.
