Ugh, a two-stroke gas engine? I’d much rather have a Stokemonkey.
I’d agree with Josh; a two-stroke engine is a bad choice for this application, although they do say it meets EPA and CARB regulations. I could swear I’ve seen something similar to this that uses an electric motor… Anybody?
The Stokemonkey is cool, but $1,350 for the kit? Yikes!
One of its selling points is for ‘unlicensed drivers’ to have a more efficient way of getting around, it says.
I don’t know what exactly it’s classified as, but where I live it’d probably be a moped, and you need a moped license to be able to drive one on the road here. Plus then it gets insured too (liability is mandatory on anything with a motor).
Still a neat item though. I’d like to try one if nothing else. I wonder if it accelerates fast or just maintains speed.
On a geek note: I wonder what effect the motor assembly has on the gyroscopic precession of the front wheel. In other words, is it harder to steer at high speeds?
