RIAA chief says illegal song-sharing ‘contained’: Huh. Seriously?
[…] the CEO of the Recording Industry Association of America says unauthorized song swapping has been “contained.”
“The problem has not been eliminated,” says association CEO Mitch Bainwol. “But we believe digital downloads have emerged into a growing, thriving business, and file-trading is flat.”
And now there are legitimate trading services, like LaLa.com. Is the RIAA going to come to everyone's home and compare their CD collection to what's on their iPod?
I doubt the RIAA even knows who has iPods, really. And it'd be difficult for them to prove that it's even yours if it came down to it.
