The Google PC?

Industry Feeling Presence of the 800-Pound Google: I don’t think this will actually happen in a million years, but it’s fun to think about.

Google will unveil its own low-price personal computer or other device that connects to the Internet.

Sources say Google has been in negotiations with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., among other retailers, to sell a Google PC. The machine would run an operating system created by Google, not Microsoft’s Windows, which is one reason it would be so cheap — perhaps as little as a couple of hundred dollars.

On the other hand, the LA Times isn’t a shady outfit. It’s not like this is coming from some rumor mill.

Sources say Google has been in negotiations with Wal-Mart Stores Inc...

If these "sources" are correct, that is downright scary. Google plus Walmart is surely a match made in hell itself.

And people worry about Apple becoming an evil monopoly. Tsk.

Looks like it's being denied by both parties.

when a poor child in a third world country can afford access to the universe of knowledge, a subsequent monopoly is a trivial sacrifice.

That sux that they are denying it, I have seen the Google OS its nicknamed the GooOs. Its a slcik little Linux Distro that was released in Japan. It was said to only be CD or USB Stick Bootable In Order to use the Hard Drive only as storage or to not even have Hard Drive at all.
