Saved by a computer lifeguard: This is very cool. And I swear we’ve posted on this system before — years ago, before it was installed. But I can’t find the post anywhere. Good to see it works.

A young girl has been saved from drowning by an extraordinary computer system that keeps an eye on everybody in a swimming pool.

The girl was pulled unconscious from 12ft of water at the deep end of a public pool in Bangor, North Wales, when underwater cameras spotted that she was not moving and alerted a lifeguard.
