Trackback Spam

Trackback Spam

Have any other blog owners noticed a marked shift in spamming? Comment spam used to be the big threat, but spammers have suddenly (in the last two weeks, perhaps) shifted to trackback spamming. For every one comment spam I get these days, I’m getting five bad trackbacks.

Anyone else?

Yeah I too had the same problem suddenly start at the beginning of February (http://www.nechbi.com/archives/nechbicom/000266.html) very annoying!.

Althought I turned off track-back pings in MT, this only takes effect in new artciles.. Looks like I need to manually turn of TB's on each article.. :-(

I have never used Trackbacks. I always wondered if I should, but now feel very secure about my decision.

Yep - seeing it on some ExpressionEngine sites I admin. Just turned it all off, since for the audience it was meaningless.

Frankly have never seen that much value to trackbacks - maybe if I had more commenting / action.

For that I'd have to write stuff that was more interesting...;)

SpamLookup has blocked all of my trackback and comment spam, so I can leave both enabled with no worries whatsoever.
