The Sub-$500 iMac?

This could be fun! Think Secret says they know what The Steve will be unveiling at the January 11 Macworld Expo: a bare bones, G4-based iMac without a display that will retail for $499.

This new product will be for a Windows user who has experienced the iPod, the ease of use of the iTunes software, and has played around with a Mac at an Apple retail store just long enough to know he’d buy one if it were a little cheaper.

Code name Q88, the machine is said to be very small and designed to either go underneath a monitor or stand upright, alongside a second computer. The guys over at MacSlash are hoping that it will also have a built-in KVM that will allow PC switchers to run the iMac side-by-side with their existing PC, using the same keyboard, mouse & monitor. That might be a little much to hope for, but if the rest is true, that might shake things up a bit, don’t you think?

This would be awesome. Look for a nice market share jump if they decide to do this. I would personally be very interested.

Bad time to buy aapl right now though. $64.30 today.

And how many opportunities did I have to buy at around $15? (that sound was me kicking myself.)

And now Deane will tell us how much he could have bought Gateway stock for. Welcome to the first annual meeting of the Tuesday Morning Quarterback's Club. =)
