Larry Wins, Finally

PeopleSoft gives in, accepts Oracle’s $10.3B bid: I knew Larry would get what he wanted eventually.

Ending 18 months of bad blood, Oracle is snapping up bitter rival PeopleSoft for $10.3 billion to create the world’s second largest maker of business applications software.

I wonder how long it will take before “Oracle” starts making you think “applications” before you think “database server.”

"Oracle" has been trying to make enterprises think "applications" for years. It just hasn't caught on much because their "applications" "suck".

One thing I always thought was funny was how Oracle Financials is advertised as "Web-based." However, when you bring it up in a browser, it just downloads this massive, all-encompassing Java applet to your machine.

That's like saying that your bank does "Web-based" banking, but, when you log on, a teller gets in a car and drives to your house.
