A REALLY Big Hard drive

Continuing my theme of REALLY big things, LaCie has announced the Bigger Disk, a one terabyte external drive. More than enough space to store all of your music, photos and movies whether obtained legally or otherwise.

The LaCie Bigger Disk, with the largest hard drive capacity available, is a unique innovation that packs an amazing 1 terabyte of storage space in a manageable 5.25” form factor. With this unsurpassed storage capacity, the LaCie Bigger Disk allows users to store nearly two years of continuous music and up to one month of non-stop MPEG-2 video.

I have been running 5 LaCie Bigger Disk for the last 3 months, 4 of them have hade to be returned for repair. Not a very good track record.

External drives bite and chew anyway, you might as well just set up a small server with 4 standard 250GB drives, it will cost less and have more features than just raw storage.

Wow i would really want to have that i mean i could set up a huge server with that imagine having like 5 of them , A Linux server (Like Mandrake or something) , Cpanel , Mysql , Php, Ect then everybody would want to have your Webhosting plans as long as you are fast.

1TB, is too small. I exceeded that capacity over 12 months ago. I have 4TB in my PC at the moment and still need more, way more. When is IBM going to bring out their 1TB internal drives so we can raid them up to 5TB using XFXs 5port SATA Raid3 Netcell cards?
