The Art of Unix Programming: Eric Raymond, hacker extraordinaire and open source champion, has finished his masterwork, “The Art of Unix Programming.” And, just like he did with “The Catherdral and the Bazaar” (which is available in XML or PostScript, natch), he’s giving it away on his Web site. It’s also for sale if you want to pay for it.
I browsed through it — it’s 20 chapters, 512 pages in print, and covers everything from “Rule of Modularity: Write simple parts connected by clean interfaces” to “Good Patching Practice.” Great stuff, licensed under the Creative Commons.
