AOL says worker sold screen names: It’ll be fascinating to see how this plays out.

An America Online (TWX) software engineer was charged Wednesday with stealing 92 million AOL screen names and selling them to a spammer, federal prosecutors in New York said. […]

Both [the AOL worker and the man he sold the addresses to] were arrested at their homes Wednesday, authorities said. They face up to five years in prison and fines of $250,000 under a national anti-spam law.

Does AOL really have 92 million active user accounts? Or was he selling him expired names?

AOL is partially responsible with this stupid "partnership" Program. Just look at the Credit Card Scamming record of MEMBERWORKS.

Once their locations are found, and their Prinicpal Administrators, they will be Publicly dealt with. All the other Computer Users I have contacted so far hate these "Partnership" Popups. They do not use AOL to see ads unless as I myself, go to specific Websites. THIS, legally. is THEFT by DECEPTION. If I want something Blocked, I want it Blocked, one way or Another !
